Following are some other statistics I compiled from the 2014 slam season. Note that statistics were only recorded for seeded players at each slam. For example, Klara Koukalova (Zakopalova) was seeded for the French Open and Wimbledon while she was unseeded at the Aussie and US Opens. Therefore, her results at the hard court slams are not included in my analysis. The definitions of these catergories should be intuitive. Upsets refer to a lower seed over higher regardless of the players. Performance vs Expectations (PvsE) is also based on seed. For example, a #14 seed is expected to win 3 matches while a #4 seed is expected to win 5 matches at each slam. So if a #14 defeats a #4 in the 4th round and then exits in the quarterfinals, #14 would get a PvsE of +1 while the #4 would get a -2. Feel free to comment with any questions. Also note these don't look quite as dashing as they could because Blogger has limited formatting options.

-There wasn't much consistency across the tour this year, at least at the majors.  We had 4 different slam champions and 8 different finalists.  We can in part blame Serena's poor slam play and Azarenka's injuries.
-Only up-and-comers Bouchard and Halep had much success going down at more than one major.
-There were an unbelievable number of different quarterfinalists this year - 24, out of 32 possible.  Only 6 different reached the quarters at more than one major.  That's up from a high 20 last year, while the men only 14 different quarterfinalist this year.
-Of those failing to fulfill expectations in 2014, Serena Williams (-15) and Na Li (-14) were the worst, despite each winning one major.
