The semifinals are set with 5 of the 8 semifinalists from the '10 US Open also making the semis here. A major upset with Nadal losing to Ferrer tonight or else we would have had 6 of 8. Zvonareva is only 1 win away from a third straight slam final. Will we see the same result as Wimbledon or Rogers Cup last year, or the US Open final? Wozniacki is now assured of the world no. 1 ranking. Murray has a good chance to defend his final appearance and break the British curse.
Here are the final eight:
Men
2) Roger Federer (SUI): 27th slam semifinal (8th at the AO), 22-4 record (5-2), last '10 US Open
3) Novak Djokovic (SRB): 10th slam semifinal (2nd at the AO), 3-6 record (1-0), last '10 US Open
5) Andy Murray (GBR): 5th slam semifinal (2nd at the AO), 2-2 record (1-0), last '10 Wimbledon
6) David Ferrer (ESP): 2nd slam semifinal (1st at the AO), 0-1 record, last '07 US Open
Women
1) Caroline Wozniacki (DEN): 3rd slam semifinal (1st at the AO), 1-1 record, last '10 US Open
2) Vera Zvonareva (RUS): 4th slam semifinal (2nd at the AO), 2-1 record (0-1), last '10 US Open
3) Kim Clijsters (BEL): 15th slam semifinal (6th at the AO), 7-7 record (1-4), last '10 US Open
9) Na Li (CHN): 2nd slam semifinal (2nd at the AO), 0-1 record (0-1), last '10 Aussie Open
Enjoy! There are really some great semis to be had! Federer vs Djokovic, Murray vs Ferrer, Wozniacki vs Li, Zvonareva vs Clijsters.
