The quarterfinals at set at the French Open, and we got mostly what we expected. The top six men are through, but only three of the top nine women. The latter was expected simply because we expected the unexpected, especially because it's the French Open, whose last three champions were Kuznetsova, Schiavone, and Li, (and Ivanovic before that). All four of those ladies plus '02 champ Serena, have now been eliminated. On the men's side, the big 4 (except Nadal) have received their bumps and bruises, but they're all still here, and perhaps we're only about 42 hours from another reunion in the semis of a major. -The men have now reached a collective 114 major QFs while the women have managed 41.
-Four '11 quarterfinalists are back on the men's side, the top 4. Only Sharapova returns on the women's side, but four other women fell just one round short (Li, Kuznetsova, Pavlyuchenkova, Azarenka)
-Eight different nations are represented on the women's side, only six on the men's with three Spaniards
