Rogers Cup and Cincinatti (repeated)

So the men and women now flip sites though the women's Rogers Cup action will be in Montreal.

Cincinatti (Men)
Roger Federer is the defending champion, having defeated Novak Djokovic in the final.
Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray were the losing semifinals, meaning that the big 4 were the last 4 at Cincinatti as at Toronto this year.
The quarterfinalists were a little more surprising:  Tomas Berdych, Lleyton Hewitt, Julien Benneteau, and Gilles Simon.

Quite a bit is at stake in this tourament, most importantly the #2 seed and with it their own half of the draw.  Federer currently leads Djokovic by 130 points but has 400 more points to defends.  So to stay #2, Federer must score 270 more points than Djokovic.  This can be done with (Fed/Djok) Champion/Final, Final/QF, or SF/R3.  So the first requirement is Federer must at least make the semis.  Then he must finish two rounds farther than Djokovic or beat him in the final.  Simple enough?

It would behoove Hewitt, Simon, and Benneteau to defend their quarterfinal points in order retain a seed at the US Open.  Also Murray is in a similar boat to Federer when trying hold off Soderling to assure his own quarter.  There looks to some drama in this tournament with lots of dangerous names lurking early in the draw especially in the Djokovic quarter.

Potential quarterfinals:
1) Nadal vs 7) Berdych
3) Federer vs 6) Davydenko
4) Murray vs 8) Verdasco
2) Djokovic vs 5) Soderling

Rogers Cup -- Montreal (Women)
Elena Dementieva is the defending champion having defeated Maria Sharapova in last year's final.
Serena Williams and Alisa Kleybanova were the semifinal losers.
Jelena Jankovic, Agnieszka Radwanska, Samantha Stosur, and Lucie Safarova were in the quarters last year.

The top 4 are pretty much set and barring a Jankovic title and Wozniacki early crash out, the top 2 are in stone.  The top 8 can still use some figuring out and the door is cracked open with Venus and Stosur not playing and Dementieva having the title to defend.  Li, Radwanska, Azarenka, and Zvonareva can make a run at a top 8 seed.  Interestingly, all 5 of the quarterfinalists from 2009 that showed up are in the their own eighth of the draw so they won't butt heads trying to defend their points.  As with the women's tournament at this time, there are some nasty draws, but maybe that's just what Premier tournaments are about, you don't have more players to dilute the field.  Kuznetsova has Pavlyuchenkova in the first round.

Potential quarterfinals:
1) Jankovic vs 9) Li
5) Clijsters vs 8) Zvonareva
4) Dementieva vs 7) Radwanska
2) Wozniacki vs 6) Schiavone
