Tokyo Preview

All the big names on the WTA converge on Tokyo this week, a Premier 5 tournament.

Maria Sharapova is the defending champion, having beating Jelena Jankovic in the final.
Agnieszka Radwanska and Na Li made the semis in 2009.  Breaking news, Li had to pull out of this year's tournament.
Benesova, Rybarikova, Azarenka, and Bartoli were the losing quarterfinalists.

The men have a couple of 250 tournaments but some of the big names are back in action, so here is who has points to defend.

Bangkok:  Gilles Simon def. Viktor Troicki in the 2009 final, Tsonga and Melzer were semifinalists (I believe Tsonga will be back) and Chiudinelli, Beck, Isner, and Korolev made the quarters.

Kuala Lumpur:  Nikolay Davydenko def. Fernando Verdasco in the 2009 final, Soderling and Gonzalez were semifinalists (though Gonzalez is injured this year), and Monfils, Berdych, Youzhny, and Gasquet made the quarters.

As time permits, I also hope to begin uploaded some stats from the 2010 slams and preparing a "2010 Slam Summary" similar to what I did for 2009.  Stay tuned.
