Svetlana Kuznetsova is the defending champion, having defeated Agnieszka Radwanska in the final.
Marion Bartoli and Nadia Petrova were the losing semifinalists in 2009.
Zvonareva, Dementieva, Pavlyuchenkova, and Shuai Peng were the losing quarterfinalists in 2009.
Note - Kuznetsova and Pavlyuchenkova are both already out of this tourney in the first round (10 and 16 seed respectively). Kuzzy will lose quite a few points and may drop back out of the top 20.
Beijing (ATP 500)
Novak Djokovic is the defending champion, having defeated Marin Cilic in the final.
Rafael Nadal and Robin Soderling were the losing semifinalists in 2009.
Safin, Ljubicic, Davydenko, and Verdasco were the losing quarterfinalists in 2009.
Another quality field is present here, the seeds are as follows:
1) Djokovic, 2) Murray, 3) Soderling, 4) Davydenko, 5) Berdych, 6) Verdasco, 7) Youzhny, 8) Ferrer
Tokyo (ATP 500)
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is the defending champion, having defeated Mikhail Youzhny in the final.
Lleyton Hewitt and Gael Monfils were the losing semifinalists in 2009.
Berdych, Wawrinka, Gulbis, and Edouard Roger-Vasselin were the losing quarterfinalists in 2009.
The field is not quite as good as Beijing but still quality, the seeds are as follows:
1) Nadal, 2) Roddick, 3) Tsonga, 4) Melzer, 5) Monfils, 6) Lopez, 7) Gulbis, 8) Llodra (Del Potro is also here, and plays Lopez in round 1)
Interesting to note that of the 16 mens quarterfinalists from '09, 9 are seeds at one or other of the tournaments.
