Nadal Wins 7th Monte Carlo Title

In Monte Carlo, Rafael Nadal won his 7th consecutive title in Monte Carlo, defeating compatriot David Ferrer 6-4, 7-5.  For Nadal, it is his "ongoing record" 19th Masters title.  It is his first title for 2011 and the 44th of his career.  I'm not sure quite what else to say here, he is the king of clay, where he is unbeaten since Madrid 2009.

Also in MC, Federer loses to a player not named Rafael or Novak for the first time since Monfils in Paris.  That prevented us from seeing all top 4 seeds making the semifinals.

Next week is one ATP tournament, the 500-level Barcelona, where Fernando Verdasco is the defending champion, defeating Soderling in the final.  However, Verdasco will not be playing.  Nadal, Murray, Soderling, and Ferrer are the top 4 seeds.

On the WTA tour, most of the big names are in Stuttgart for a lower-level Premier event.  There is also an International event in Fes, Morocco.
