This is coming much later than I would like it to but my 2012 slam summaries pages have been posted at right and the 2011 summaries have been added to the archive.
-David Ferrer, Juan Martin Del Potro, Richard Gasquet, Sara Errani, and Maria Kirilenko were players who put together a better than expected campaign sort of under the radar.
-There were no unseeded men's quarterfinalists this year and only 4 women's.
-The men's tour was not quite as top heavy as last year, perhaps due to Nadal's injury.
-The women's tour was more top heavy than previous years, as the top 4 players became more consistent.
-Only Djokovic made all 4 semis, but 4 men (Djokovic, Murray, Federer, Ferrer) made all 4 quarters. No woman accomplished the feat.
-41 men and 39 women were seeded at majors in 2012. That means only 7 women seeded at the Aussie Open would drop out of the top 35-ish a slam time throughout the year. I think that is pretty incredible.
I will update the countries summary page early next week.
