So when the dust has settled after many expected a wild tournament, four of the top eight seeds made the semifinals on the women's side at Indian Wells. And so much for my Belgian or (Bela)Russian prediction. So despite the unpredictability of the women's I am a little surprised to see all these women except for maybe Radwanska. I also read on the IW site that Stosur will now be in the top 10, so that must be at the expense of Na Li because Jankovic and Radwanska are both still playing here. So without further ado:
2) Caroline Wozniacki (DEN) def. 18) Jie Zheng (CHN), 6-4, 4-6, 6-1; I really am surprised to see the Dane still alive;
5) Agnieszka Radwanska (POL) def. 4) Elena Dementieva (RUS), 6-4, 6-3; Radwanska is really playing well right now, tough loss for Elena;
6) Jelena Jankovic (SRB) def. 23) Alisa Kleybanova (RUS), 6-4, 6-4; Is it a Serbian renaissance? This was really a close match but Kleybanova was horrible on break poitns;
8) Samantha Stosur (AUS) def. 28) Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez (ESP); 6-3, 7-6(7); Where did Slammin' Sam come from? The Aussies have new hope.
