Just two tournaments this week in the final week leading up to the US Open and they were both won by Czechs. Petra Kvitova played some great tennis, in winning the title in New Haven without dropping a set. She defeated Rybarikova in the final. In Winston-Salem, the local boy Isner had to pull out with a sprained ankle, advancing Lukas Rosol to the semis. He used that event to launch himself to the title, defeating Janowicz in 3 sets in the final, after saving 2 match points.
